About Me
Lauren M. Thompson
Hi! I’m Lauren. I grew up running cross country and track, and I still love running and going to the gym- usually with friends or on a long walk by the beach. When I’m not working or studying, you can usually find me outside: hiking, swimming, snowboarding, riding horses, baking, or taking artsy photos. I love to travel and learn about different cultures. My family is originally from York, England, and I went to high school in Palos Verdes, California.
I’m a huge animal lover- I volunteer with Good Tails Dog Rescue, and at home I have two cats and a dog. I’m also involved in PRSC at USC and love spending time with my friends and family. I’ve always been drawn to art history, especially Impressionist painting. My favorite foods are Hershey’s chocolate bars and açaí bowls after a run by the beach.
I’m passionate about mental health and have been involved in several psychology-focused organizations. In high school, I founded an 80-member Psychology Club in collaboration with 7 Cups, an online peer-support platform. I helped students receive training to become certified listeners, supporting peers navigating challenges such as illness, grief, mental health struggles, and difficult life situations. This experience taught me how to lead with empathy, communicate clearly, and support others through sensitive topics.
I’m currently studying Psychology, Public Relations, and Advertising at the University of Southern California. USC has always been my dream school- I’ve always wanted to study and build my career in Los Angeles. I’m interested in journalism, magazines, advertising, branding, and PR, and I closely follow science, research, funding, media, fashion, entertainment, politics, marketing, and cultural trends.
Long term, I’d love to work in healthcare or hospital PR, combining my interests in psychology, science, communication, and storytelling.
